It’s not anything fancy like an article, but I felt like I should jot down exactly what’s been going on since I haven’t posted anything here lately.
The past few months have been hectic. Keeping the lights on and the water flowing has been a struggle but I’m working more hours and making more money now. My main issue that’s caused my stagnation has been depression. It’s a pretty vicious cycle of “I’m exhausted from work” to “I don’t feel like doing anything today” to “I never have time to get anything done”, and then it repeats. I pretty much cause my own suffering and I know it, but I haven’t been able to break the cycle yet.
Regardless, I have done a few things lately that are worth sharing. Following a moment of inspiration from a very close person in my life that’s an artist, I decided to get back into making games and interactive fiction. So the Games section has been updated with a few new proof-of-concepts. Basically, they’re just tests to see if I can use the Twine engine to make a proper RPG with all the works. I also plan to be doing this in RPG Maker MV, since I’ve owned it forever and just never use it. Let’s see how many “Untitled #” games I can make before deciding on the path I should take.
Outside of that, I’ve recently started exploring Google’s Compute Engine to see how it would serve as a host for my Discord projects. To familiarize myself with it, I migrated my server’s NadekoBot to a Virtual Machine on the GCE, and I have to say it’s been running flawlessly. This might very well be the way I host all of my linux-based projects.
Anywho, that’s what’s been going on. I’ll be working more on developing a Twine-based RPG for now, and then it’s back to writing probably.
